Set Up Your Gamification Environment

The Community Gamification features create an engaging environment for your team in their pursuit of better conversation quality. Before your team can use them, the team administrator and manager need to configure the environment so it encourages participation.

Let's step through what you need to do to get set up:

  • Set the Community permissions.

  • Open the Gamification settings.

  • Activate points awards.

  • Select participating teams.

  • Set the leaderboard timeframe.

  • Review and set up auctions.

Enables Community gamification

Required Permissions:

  • Manage Community Settings (community.manage-settings) β€” to configure engagements, leaderboard, applicable teams and auctions

  • Run Auctions and Reports (community.run-auctions-and-reports) β€” to create auctions and view the engagement report

1. Set the Community Permissions

First, navigate to your evaluagent role permissions:

Go to User Management in the side nav > click Roles & Permissions > click Edit on the role you want to set permissions for.

  • Team Leader/Manager: Suitable for managing the team's gamified environment, viewing leaderboards and running auctions.

  • Administrator: Configures company-wide gamification settings such as points values, anti-gaming rules and participating teams. By default, you'll have all of these permissions.

2. Open the Gamification Settings

Navigate to the Community Gamification settings as an administrator:

Go to Settings in the side nav > click Community > click Engagements.

3. Activate Points Awards

Activate Engagement Events

Select all engagement events from the list, or choose which events you want to activate for your team. Click the Active/Inactive status button to toggle the engagement event between the two states.

Configure Engagements

When you initially set up your Community gamified environment, evaluagent configures each engagement with recommended values proportional to the effort and frequency of expected use.

Configure Points Values

Confirm the points value of each event. The points value should be proportional to the effort associated with performing the activity in evaluagent. High-effort activities should award more points than low-effort ones.

Set Anti-Gaming Limits

Confirm the anti-gaming limit. Set it considering the expected daily frequency of the activity, so team members aren't penalised for genuine activity but can't take advantage of the system.

Configure Levels

Optionally, configure levels on each engagement to encourage team members to focus on these activities regularly. Each level should require more points than the last, so a level achievement accurately reflects a team member's experience.

4. Select Participating Teams

Go to Settings in the side nav > click Community > click Applicable Teams.

The Applicable Teams tab lets you manage teams and their participation in the Community gamification features. You can limit teams, test your set-up, then open it up to all teams once you're confident.

Allow All Teams

Switch on All teams allowed to open Gamification to all teams in evaluagent. This overrides previous team configurations. Switching it off lets you pick specific teams to participate.

Select Teams

Choose the specific teams you want to participate in your gamified environment.

5. Set the Leaderboard Timeframe

Go to Settings in the side nav > click Community > click Leaderboard.

Set the Refresh Period

Set the leaderboard refresh period between 7 and 90 days. If your team prefers quicker cycles with regular competition, set the refresh period to a low value such as seven days.

Configure the Visible Range of Users

Set the visible range of users on the leaderboard between 1 and 20 to control the size displayed to a team member viewing their leaderboard. The value should be big enough to show a reasonable view but small enough to encourage gradual improvements rather than attempting to reach the top.

6. Review and Create Auctions

Go to Settings in the side nav > click Community > click Auctions.

Create an Auction

Soon after setting up your gamified environment, your team will want to know what they can do with their points. Create an auction to encourage them to engage with evaluagent.

Click New auction and follow the auction creation workflow.

View the Auction

From the right-hand hamburger icon on the auction, click View to see what the auction looks like to team members.
