How do I configure general feedback topics?

Overview

General feedback topics categorise feedback by subject matter, making it easier to filter and report on specific areas. Topics help organise feedback into meaningful categories like "Communication Skills", "Product Knowledge", or "Customer Empathy".

Getting there

Go to Settings > Feedback Settings > click the General Feedback Topics tab

The system includes several default topics. You can also create your own.

Creating a new topic

  1. Click the Add general feedback topic button

  2. Enter the topic name and description in the modal

  3. Click Submit

The new topic will be added to your list of active general feedback topics.

Managing topics

  • Active topics are available for selection when providing general feedback, and you can report on them too

  • Inactive topics are hidden from the selection dropdown but existing feedback with those topics remains visible

  • To hide a topic, click the Active pill to change it to Inactive

  • To reactivate, click the Inactive pill

How topics work for users

When sending general feedback:

  • If no topics are configured -- The topic dropdown does not appear

  • If one topic exists -- It may be pre-selected automatically

  • If multiple topics exist -- Users select a topic before sending feedback

Common topic examples

  • Communication Skills

  • Product Knowledge

  • Problem Solving

  • Customer Empathy

  • Process Adherence

  • Team Collaboration

  • Time Management

  • Quality of Work

Best practices

  • Create meaningful categories -- Topics should represent distinct areas you want to track

  • Keep the list manageable -- Too many topics can make selection difficult

  • Use clear names -- Topics should be self-explanatory

  • Review usage periodically -- Deactivate topics that are rarely used

  • Align with training -- Match topics to your training programmes for better insights
