Announcements

Announcements

Announcements are how you communicate important updates to all of your employees. Use Announcements to inform evaluagent users of an upcoming change to a scorecard, an internal competition you're running, or how you're acting on their feedback. Once published, users receive a notification, and the announcement appears as a banner on everyone's dashboard until it expires.

In this quick start guide, we'll cover:

  • How to publish your first announcement

  • How to edit an announcement or turn it off

  • Troubleshooting

Required Feature Flags

The following feature flags and permissions are required to use this feature:

Announcements

Required Permissions:

  • Manage Announcements (vote.manage-announcements) β€” to create, edit and delete announcements

  • View Announcements (vote.view-announcements) β€” to see active announcements on the dashboard (granted to all users by default)

Publishing Your First Announcement

You must have the Manage Announcements permission. Permissions are managed in User Management.

Go to Community > click Announcements > click the New tab.

Fill in the announcement title and details, set the date it should appear, and select its importance level.

Things to note:

  • The importance level changes how the announcement looks on everyone's dashboard.

  • The publish date can be now or in the future.

  • You can have multiple announcements live at any one time.

  • Everyone with the View Announcements permission will see the banner on their dashboard and receive a notification as soon as the announcement start time is reached.

What Happens When an Announcement Has Been Published

Once published, the announcement appears in the Previous Announcements tab on this page.

Viewing an Announcement

When the announcement start date is reached, the announcement becomes visible on the dashboard of every user with the View Announcements permission.

By default, all users have this permission, and they receive an email and an in-app notification telling them there's a new announcement to view.

Viewing From the Dashboard

The announcement appears as a bar along the top of the screen with the headline. To view the details, click View details. The full announcement appears in a pop-up modal.

If multiple announcements are active, a scroll bar lets you move back and forth between them.

Viewing From a Notification

This works like all notifications inside the platform. Click into your inbox and click View Announcement within the notification. You'll be redirected to the dashboard with the announcement shown in the pop-up.

Editing or Turning an Announcement Off

Turning an Announcement Off

We recommend setting an expiry date when you create an announcement. Once the expiry time and date are reached, the system automatically unpublishes the announcement and it's no longer visible to users.

Alternatively, you can manually turn an announcement off:

  • Go to the Previous Announcements tab.

  • Identify the announcement.

  • Click Edit.

  • Set the end date to today's date and time.

  • Click Update β€” the announcement will be unpublished.

Editing an Announcement

  • Find the announcement in the Previous Announcements list.

  • Click Edit.

  • Make the changes (e.g. heading, start date, end date).

  • Click Save Changes to update the announcement.

Troubleshooting

I Can't See the Option to Publish an Announcement

Check your permissions. By default, only admins can publish announcements.

A User Is Unable to See the Announcement

Check their permissions in User Management. If you've created a new role since Announcements was activated on your account, you may have missed assigning the View Announcements permission.

My Announcement Is Different to What I Published

Check with your other admins β€” they may have corrected a typo or updated the end date. Announcements are a shared feature, and anyone with Manage Announcements can edit them.
